Your days of giving in to incompetent content providers are numbered…
In a given year alone, hundreds of thousands of people fall victim to ruthless content development firms and independent content providers. Angered, disheartened and at a financial loss, most victims don’t know where to turn. Those not quite disillusioned by their first experience contract with yet other providers, only to be disappointed each time. It’s a vicious cycle that bears little mercy. There is, however, an end in sight.
Hello, my name is John Freidman and I’m the founder of Friedman Writing Services. Having utilized the services of content developers in the past, I can tell you first-hand that I got nowhere rather quickly. Almost all the developers I dealt with delivered content that was an incoherent mess, riddled with grammatical and factual mistakes. I was convinced that I was doing something wrong.
I finally found myself dealing with some decent providers, however, while they succeeded in some areas they failed in others. Although I was no longer receiving garbled messes for articles, the developers rarely responded to my e-mails and failed to meet their deadlines. My ongoing disappointments in attempting to find a reliable provider got me thinking. What characteristics make up a well-rounded development firm?
Asking Around
At the time of my pondering, some acquaintances came forth letting me know what a horrible experience they’d been having trying to track down a reliable provider. They were stuck between choosing semi-coherent content delivered within deadlines, or higher caliber content delivered at the developer’s discretion. In both scenarios they lacked consistent and friendly correspondence. They were essentially in the same situation I found myself in.
After listening to their grievances, I grew even more fed-up with the current state of the content development community. I began to notice a major flaw in the way all the development firm’s conducted themselves:
They disregarded personal attention and the value of time.
That’s right. They became so engulfed in the idea that they could turn a profit that they decided to cut corners at customer expense. I was finally ready to list what I considered to be key characteristics found in a quality development firm:
- Quality outgoing content
- Timely delivery
- Personal attention (in terms of friendly and sustained customer correspondence and project status updates)
Had those two key elements been present during my dealings with even the poorer quality providers, I wouldn’t have been so infuriated by their lackluster content. I was now in possession of the recipe for a top-notch development firm. There was, however, a problem. Existing developers weren’t interested in valuing customer time or extending a bit of personal attention.
Had I decided to dedicate my time to trying to alter the source of the problem, I would have faced an uphill climb. But then, it struck me! What if I shifted my focus from changing the mindset of existing development firms when I could lead by example. I could start my own development business.
